Greenville Co. man facing 16 charges after attempt to run over deputies

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a man wanted in connection with the theft of a set of master keys from Furman University is in custody and now facing attempted murder charges.

On Wednesday at about 7:10 p.m., the Greenville County Sheriff's Office received information about a wanted suspect with seven active warrants when he was spotted at the Spinx gas station on E. Washington Street.

Public Information Officer Drew Pinciaro said Jameson Crowder was wanted in connection with thetheft of a set of master keys from a Furman University employee's vehicle in March. Crowder's brother, Cristopher Crowder, has also been charged in connection with the theft and wasarrested after a SWAT standoff on Wednesday.

Pinciaro said when deputies entered the Spinx parking lot, Jameson Crowder and a man later identified as Shawn Allen, attempted to flee and Crowder intentionally rammed two deputies' cruisers.

After the crash, Pinciaro said Crowder and Allen tried to flee on foot but were arrested. Deputies said Crowder was driving a stolen vehicle that contained methamphetamine.

Crowder had existing charges for a bench warrant, financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud. He was also charged with two counts of petit larceny and two counts of auto break-in related to the theft of the Furman University keys.

After the incident on Wednesday, Crowder has now been charged with three counts of attempted murder, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, possession of less than one gram of meth and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Deputies said Allen had existing charges for burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle. He has also been charged with resisting arrest, possession of less than one gram of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A judge denied bond of Crowder and Allen on Thursday morning.
