I grew many top strains very quietly for five years with lighting ranging from 400W to 1000W using everything from organics, to coco-coir, to deep water culture. AMA

Right but are we talking on a microgrowery board or are we talking on a macrogrowery board? There is a big distinction here. I believe that LED manufacturers have not caught up to HID manufacturers. But that's not to say that LED lights have not caught up to HID setups. The problem here is not the lights themselves, the problem is the manufacturers. This is where I agree with you. LED manufacturers are taking advantage of a market that is obviously booming. They see dollars signs and there they are taking advantage of people who don't do the research to understand what it is exactly they are buying.

There is a lot of uncertainty in this market, That is absolutely true. But an hour of research and you can see that there are LEDs out there that can perform just as well as HID setups. Check out the people who are building their own LED setups and growing beautiful, large, and plentiful plants. They are out there, 1 google search away. So when you say that LEDs are useless, I find that hard to believe.

I also don't appreciate the "college kid" stereotype or the "getting caught by your parents" comments. Why one person grows has nothing to do with the products that we are talking about here and it's just a silly argument. But we are all here to learn and enjoy talking about cannabis growing. Some people stealth grow because they have to and some people stealth grow because they like the challenge. Success is achieving ones goals, regardless of what those goals are.

The argument that because commercial growers don't use them is a crap argument to put it bluntly. There are commercial growers who use LEDs, There are commercial growers who use a combination of lights. People always adhere to the norm until the norm changes. HPS is still king because it's cheap and effective. LED lights are just effective.
