I grew up poor and I can't help thinking I'm fighting for a future that probably won't exist

Same, at my school there's breakfast club, sandwiches and snacks and uniforms. We get fresh food boxes donated once a week that about 20 families access. This year prep kids who get CSEF got $150 in winter uniforms including shoes. We provide all prep students with the mandatory hat brand new. If the CSEF already going to supplies and excursions runs out, no one is excluded if they can't afford it, no questions asked.

Granted at a higher socio-economic school this won't be as readily available and I 100% get that asking is a thing in itself that isn't pleasant. But schools can't guess who needs the extra help unless at least one situation is bought to their attention. A lot can be done discreetly.
