Grew up without a TV or video games. WHAT SHOULD I PLAY?!

Maybe you could use what you're already interested in as a jumping-off point to find games. Did you watch movies growing up? Did you read fiction? Do you have a particular interest in anything like fantasy, sci-fi, history, action, sports, etc.?

I say this because there are a lot of games I like that probably don't even have the best gameplay, but I just like them because they're within my sphere of interest. Even if I didn't play games, I would probably still have this sphere of interest, which is why I direct the question to you.

Of course, there are games that transcend genres that everyone should play, and a lot of them have already been listed by other people here.
