Grimes ran off stage tonight in the middle of her song :(

shit that is EXACTLY what i was afraid of. the level of emotion she inspires in people is just too high for there not to be these kinds of outlying fans who want to hurt her, and she's talked about how she's in this in-between area where she's famous enough to have stalkers but not rich enough to afford security. just another reason we need to buy her albums/merch etc. her life could literally depend on it. :(

bjork's post album is similar to AA in that, she was radically deconstructing the "manic pixie" idea, from the very beginning (i mean it doesn't get anymore ball-breaking, lyrically or musically, than army of me, which was both the first song and first single) but because she was brave enough to show honest vulnerability (including romantic) in the rest of the album, she was mistaken as still being some kind of pushover.

everyone needs to educate themselves about (recommendation: don't watch) the bjork stalker right now if you underestimate the possibility of fans wanting to hurt someone so honest and inspired as claire. bear in mind that was 21 years ago when the internet was barely a thing and this fuck didn't even have access constantly to bjork, he pretty much only had her albums and videos to watch. and he made a video recording about his jealousy of her boyfriend and sent that shit to her with a fucking nail bomb. oh yeah, he also killed himself first and sent her that video iirc. although how exactly he managed that i dunno.

what is most amazing about it is that bjork was so fucking strong she was not thrown off her optimism about humanity. her next album ended with three songs, one saying "you can't say no to hope you can't say no to happiness" followed by "i just want to explode this body off me" followed by "all is full of love, you just aint receiving, maybe not from the direction you've been staring at, maybe not from the sources you put yours into" etc. it could be written to herself. or it could even be written to her fucking attempted murderer.

this guy did destroy her life in london, she had to break up with goldie (who the guy made racial slurs against too..) and record in spain and move back to iceland and eventually nyc. but he absolutely didn't destroy her, i mean her next album was homogenic. but the thing is, the bomb almost worked.

she needs more than fucking support tweets at this point. she needs security and probably the best way to support her is, if you have any money and you actually didn't buy her music and just streamed it, buy it, either digital, cd or vinyl, or buy a shirt. and then she can feel safe at her shows again hopefully. but how fucking courageous is this woman to do like, almost the entire show, in a week when pop stars are being killed. and knowing someone wanted to hurt her!
