A Guide to Current Political Terminology

This doesn't apply for everyone but there are people who blindly parrot whatever the left leaning position is without even thinking. Staying home vs not staying home is the current relevant social topic, gotta take the left position on that. Protests vs no Protests? gotta vouch for the left there. I have socially liberal views and fiscally moderate-left views myself but I swear some people follow a political spectrum like it's their favorite sports team. Actually not even since I find that it's much more likely to have a civil conversation about sports team than politics at this point.

For me personally, public health/safety goes ahead of social advocacy everytime. 15000 people organizing for these protests is concerning to say the least. Edmonton was doing pretty well in terms of covid-19 recently but it would be delusional to not think that there's going to be a big spike in cases from this gathering. I would feel better if the organizers actually enforced wearing masks. I heard of one protest in the Waterloo area where people were being asked to leave if they weren't wearing masks/practicing social distancing.
