Guilty until proven innocent- Discrimination of Males

I'm surprised my comment was upvoted and not downvoted into oblivion.

Your post was supported by the SRS "not a brigade" brigade.

but every single top comment has a whole 'women suck' vibe to them to support their comment.

Because there are only two genders, there's only one gender that men can compare their treatment to. This thread (and /u/rainbowyrainbow's comments) are examples of the growing frustration at the discrimination men face.

One thing to keep in mind is that for most men, feminsm =/= women. I have a fairly strong hatred of feminism, but absolutely no problem with women. A lot of the discrimination men face comes directly from actions of Feminism. So when men start ranting, Feminism is going to be shit on. This (for the most part, there are extremists) does not mean that women are getting shit on too.

And I agree that we should be highlighting these issues to attempt to achieve total social equality, but we shouldn't be dragging other people/genders down or insulting others just to support our point.

We're not. Using the privileges women enjoy today to contrast how men are treated doesn't mean women need to be brought down, but that men need to be boosted up. For instance there's growing concern about the educational gap (or at least there should be). You'd be hard pressed to find anyone saying that the pendulum that pushed girls ahead of boys now needs to be used to push boys ahead of girls. The conversation is about parity, not about bringing down girls to make up for the past.

This shouldn't be a 'which gender is better' issue, because let's face it, both gender's experience sexism and that's just how it is. Now let's work on it without shoving each other into groups or sides (hint feminists, sjw whatever the fuck that is) but as human beings.

It shouldn't be. Unfortunately a lot of issues that effect both genders (though not often equally) are discussed in a way that focuses on how women can be helped, with the usual "Helping women helps men too!" bone thrown to men.

Men are getting tired of being a second thought on a lot of issues. And when we try to speak up, we get hit with brigades (that don't brigade) or protests by... Feminists. Nothing will get you banned faster from /r/TwoXChromosomes (a default sub that's supposed to be open to everyone, regardless of gender) than to speak about rape from a man's perspective. A similar view on men speaking about rape can be found pretty much anywhere, online or off.

Far too many issues that also effect men have been co-opted and labeled a "woman's only issue".

From your earlier post, figured I add it to my rant here:

What the fuck is this 'natural tendency' bullshit?

There's been a ton of studies on behavioral differences between boys and girls. They all pretty much agree that thanks to sex biased hormones, there are fundamental behavioral differences between the genders, even when social influences are taken into consideration.

In the context of the post you replied to, this includes boys (on average) being more aggressive (aka rambunctious), adventurous, and prone to hierarchies. Behaviors that don't mesh well with sit at your desk, play well with your table group, and just learn.

Acting like a man? What the fuck are you talking about?

Just like a woman who wants to fill a traditional role is often looked down on, so are men who also feel natural filling men's traditional role. Instead of working on giving men an option to be more... feminine (probably not the best term, but it's 3 AM here), it's becoming a requirement. "It's OK to cry" has turned into "Cry or you are a sociopath"

It's late, I'm going to bed.
