Guy getting arrested for riding his bike on the sidewalk.

Whelp, I was walking down a deserted yet dead end road from my hotel. The road was nicely wooded, just perfectly silent/pleasant/naturist. Well, a cop blazed in with a black yet aggressive looking vehicle. They jumped out saying, “ we got a call that someone was out here”. (It’s a public road, wtf is wrong with being out walking).

They asked me what I was doing and I pointed at my wrist that I was getting my steps in. At that precise moment, another cop zoomed in and I asked the first cop, “am I being held for some reason?” and got the response “No” to which I responded, “than I am heading back to my hotel” (which I pointed at).. And yes, I walked off praying that I wouldn’t get hurt. If I had been a minority, I now realize the end result would have been different.

This is not what should be normal behavior from law enforcement. We should be able to walk, run, bicycle on public roads with no fear of being hassled. This is not normal behavior from the police in Europe (unfortunately, I was in the militarized USA, home of the free?). We need to train up our law enforcement, hold tough entry requirements, and pay them accordingly so we don’t get bully’s looking to exert their authority.

If you get in this position, you’ll know what I am talking about. Worst case, I strongly suggest if you get in a sketchier than I did, shut the fuck up, declare vocally multiple times that you are asserting your, “ right to remain silent” and request an attorney as many times as necessary. Stfu. Got it? Good, it will save your skin.
