As a guy with a very unusual name, once I start sharing some personal information like my occupation (government job as a scientist), I’m easy to find.

You’d be surprised who’s out there trolling. I was “matched” with a Chinese girl who was pretty cute. We texted a bunch on WhatsApp and she ended up trying to get me to “take over a few of her investments”. It was really weird and I was very suspicious. When I said I wasn’t comfortable doing this, she flipped and began berating me. Totally out of character...or rather who ?she? really was.

I turned her contact info into my security department and turned out this person was a Chinese operative trying to infiltrate the government via dating apps.

So be patient with someone new. It’s a scary world out there for all of us. That being said, if your gut tells you something isn’t right....it’s probably not right.
