The idea of marriage is a religious concept. You can't have one without the other. Demanding a religion bend to your will is a fools errand. You would be better off starting your own religion and those that agree with you can join and perhaps in a thousand years your people can be the ones acting as gatekeepers to those who want the right to make marrying only one women respected under the law. My comment is sarcastic in tone but I am serious. I don't understand why homosexuals are so obsessed with marriage when all of the same protections available for married couples are available with the help of a lawyer. It is my understanding that the point of gay people being able to marry is specifically to throw it in the faces of their parents and judgmental friends and family that the gay people have "won" and your old traditions can be stepped on, disrespected, and disregarded. That being said people can do as they wish and who am I to tell someone else how to live so by all means if marriage is what this group wants then give it to them. One huge caveat I have in agreeing with this essay is that black people as a group are somehow equal to gay people as a group in experience and the way they were treated. Imagine being gay in a world where closets don't exist and on top of that removed from your home and unable to communicate with any other person because of different languages and forced to work non stop until you die of exhaustion while regularly watching the few women you can barely consider family be repeatedly raped and beaten. Slavery was no fucking pride parade.
