I went completely off the rails in 2019, had post-manic depression and crashed hard. I started to get so depressive I would think I’m the worst person alive, a danger to those around me and a burden to those I love. I wanted to commit while driving psychotic. It was bad. Some police officers picked me up at night and brought me back to a clinic I had left only 20h ago. There, they diagnosed me with paranoid schizophrenia because I was psychotic. The doc didn’t even stop to think. One year later, my psychotherapist from the clinic noted it’s most likely been psychotic depression, because some things just didn’t line up with schizo. It took another year for my psychiatrist to diagnose me with bipolar disorder after a manic episode that cost me €8k.

I’m glad I finally got the right diagnosis. Thanks to the right meds, I’m closer than ever to being stable.
