Guys, I did it. After a year, a bootcamp, a bunch of rejection, I got a job working as a dev in a language I don’t really know on a platform I don’t understand.

I love seeing stories like this. Work for a pretty big player in technology and seeing a bunch of people get in via apprenticeship style hires. The days of requiring a CS degree to get a job in tech are long over. I keep trying to tell my down and out friends there’s all sorts of opportunities in programming, ops, project management, and compliance, but nobody believes me.

Good on you for developing your skills and transitioning into the industry. If experience is any guide, people with a background like yours are usually chomping at the bit to learn and grow, and it’s wonderful having team members coming in with real experience and a burning hunger to do well.
