Guys, let's have a serious discussion.

I initially wrote something much longer, but for the sake of simplicity I've decided to reduce how much you need to read.

Imagine we're going to a concert. You can drive there in your solid state Prius to get there efficiently, and I won't judge you for it. I however, will be driving there in my all tube classic American muscle car and feeling awesome about it. I'm sure that for every time I pass you on the highway, you'll pass me while I'm in the gas station, and that's just fine. If I get there first, I'll get the chairs and grill out of the trunk and have a burger waiting for you in the parking lot before the show, and you can chip in on the beer with all the gas money you've saved. If you get there first, you can talk to the other people to see what's going on and introduce me to someone I'm going to find attractive when I get there, and I'll be a great wingman. Nobody actually gives a shit what cars we're going to the concert in because we're their ones driving them. The only important thing is, there's absolutely no chance we're paying stadium prices for beer.

You pick the amp that's right for you. You assess your own needs, do your own research, and play your own guitar. What works for you isn't necessarily going to work as well for me.

As for me, I use a solid state amp to practice and it's great for a lot of things, but if I actually need to play something, I'll use my tube amp. It's the difference between a Swiss army knife, and the actual tools that they're based on. You pick the right tool for the right job. There's no need to dig a trench with a teaspoon, and there's no reason to bring out a shovel to scoop sugar.
