Have you guys played in a beer league team that likes to complain and whine?

I'm in a similar boat. My D league team has some good guys, but we have a handful where 90% of what they talk about is how someone on the other team did them wrong, shouldn't be in the league, etc. Then I watch them play and it's not hard to see that they're fueling the fire with unnecessary physicality and distasteful stick-play. It doesn't help that they only skate once per week.

Then to add to the frustration (and to get it off of my chest a bit), I started playing again halfway through last season after a 9 year break and thought I would play in the lower divisions to ease back into it. Once I got my feet back under me and started scoring, my rewards were chirps from the other bench, multiple penalties drawn per game, and teammates that would rather me skate it from the goal line than receive a pass to help with the breakout. I'm not playing in this league next season. I don't take 4 hours out of my day to hear a bunch of guys complain.

It's difficult because I'm on the ice 4 days a week and work full time like most other beer league guys, and to come out to the games just to deal with that is demoralizing and has me second guessing if all this ice time is worth it. It's gotten me down a bit recently, if I'm being totally honest. I love hockey though, so I'll keep on keeping on and make it work for me.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic, but it's been on my mind a lot so I had to get it out one way or another!

In regards to your scenario, if you really like the guys I would just try to make it work and remind yourself of the reasons you're still out there playing, or just bite the bullet and find a new team. It's really hard to get people to change.
