Gyrocopter pilot faces over 9 years in prison: ""I simply hope by putting my freedom on the line, others might realize how precious their freedom is and join those of us engaged in this fight to preserve and protect our government of, by and for the people"

No apologizes necessary. Again though I would like to re-iterate if I am saying something that is touching you, it's a truth you already knew -- a kind of collective truth about our context and what needs to happen for real social reform. I don't think I am saying anything "novel" here and if anything it's how I have collected the words (the speakers, the sources, and how it's weaved) that adds meaning but the real truth is, when we experience a real human moment, we are able to see millions of truths about our lives via adsorbing the complexity of the moment (instead of letting our mind wonder off) -- invigorated and intuitive. This is why I also don't think you have to be a genius to see what's happening in our culture but it does take a lot of conscious reflection and yet we, as a culture, love to have rigorously scheduled lives which when left with free-time are full of distractions -- truly from k-12 there is no time to reflection on what you are or where you're going and that's why so many entering college have no fucking clue in that regard... this is our culture, we give people paths to walk but we forbid knowing where those paths inevitable end, oh if there is one thing more beautiful than capitalism, it's branding and our educational system.

That all being said, I think there is a lot of hope for the current and next generation. We are seeing better the "cycles" our system repeats are growing more tired of complacency to such inequality. However, for me it won't stop until we have serious open-source, open-data, and open-science community that is the foundation of software, data management, and scientific practices. While this isn't the greatest injustice we are faced with, as food, housing, and income are all greater, it is one of the most crippling to our economy and our way of life. MLK said, "Injustice anywhere, threatens freedom everyone". I challenge this modern context, "a secret anywhere threatens freedom everywhere" -- our only hope is open-source, open-data, and open-science but in general... if we could just be more open, this world would be a friendlier place.

Hopefully you and I can be part of returning to civility.

EDIT: If you have questions about anything I said, feel free to ask. It sounds like some of it really connected, so I will briefly try to point some things I am drawing from. I think the part about p-values is a big one I have been thinking about for awhile. I love science and I think there is a lot of great scientific exploration going on but there are also a lot of poor measures of "quality" and this is also seen in our education system with areas like standardize testing and grade inflation. However, the ultimate basis for this challenge of our culture comes from my understanding of two Buddhist words, "mara", demon, and "maya", illusion. Both of these words have the root, "ma" to measure and thus out of our measures do we create many demons (evils) and illusions.
