I had more of a reaction to the death of Rodrik, Rickard Karstark, Syrio, Yoren, etc than when the main character killed the other main character

For a show that prides itself on "subverting expectations" this was so cliche and didn't add anything to the story, development, or finality of the characters. Like what if they had instead introduced a character who had previously served a monarch who thought that it was his destiny to rule the seven kingdoms. Like this character saw his destiny in fire and so he burned people alive, like lots of people, like that was his MO was to burn people alive. But this character stood by and watched him do it until this self proclaimed monarch, obsessed with his destiny, burns his own daughter alive only to go into battle and be defeated and killed making all of it, the killing, the brutality, absolutely meaningless. He did all of it because he thought he was chosen by the Lord of Light. And then maybe this character could give Danny a token like a burned toy that he had made for the monarch's daughter as a reminder of where the road she's taking leads so Danny changes her mind and doesn't burn the city even though she wants to. Wouldn't that have been neat? Too bad no such character exists. Oh wait it's SIR DAVOS SEAWORTH THE ONION FUCKING KNIGHT!!!!!!
