Oh I definitely agree with you on all counts. I just get frustrated because, just like with babies, it seems like a lot of people don't really stop to think about what it takes to raise and train an animal, especially a designer breed like a Goldendoodle.
The BIL hadn't taken her to a groomer since they had her so my MIL did just because the dog was filthy. Groomer had to shave her because the matting of her coat was so bad that it couldn't be fixed any other way. The dog also got hematomas in both ears because of the matting. And once she was "naked," you could finally see how malnourished she was. BIL says they just "didn't know she needed so much food." Like, I'm sorry but there's this thing we have called Google... Fucking use it! If you don't know something about what you're doing, look it up. Figure your shit out! That poor dog was 20 lbs under weight because they didn't bother to use the fucking internet.
Sorry for getting so heated, it just drives me absolutely nuts that behavior like this happens so often. And now that Christmas has just passed, it makes me sad to know how many puppies will probably be sent to shelters because families didn't think about the responsibility of having such a young animal.
