I don't like that your aunt brought up points like (him doing what he was supposed to do-- be a PARENT) when you were a baby. That doesn't justify your behavior toward your child later on in life. Your choice to be a parent means that your child doesn't owe you ANYTHING.

You made the right call OP.

I've had so many messages like this from my dad's side of the family, biased toward the person who hurt you and it's always a completely different story from the truth. It's all self pity, guilt shaming... How could you do this to us, you're so selfish, don't you care about the person who raised you (when in reality they probably did the bare minimum), they're dying/sick (when they aren't)... It hurts.
