Hair loss woes

Is there any way to tell whether or not I've had any effect on the rate of my hair loss yet?

No, not really, and actually you're likely going to experience more shedding. Don't freak out about, it's normal! On average, it takes about 3 to 6 months for hair loss to stop. Anecdotal reports seem to suggest that if you lost hair within the last year or two, you can expect to see much of it return. Hair lost earlier will not. But bodies are different and there's much variability at play.

If you were suffering MPB then you should expect your hair to start shedding somewhere around the 4 to 6 month mark. That's very normal and will likely freak you out. My understanding is that your scalp is shedding hairs from follicles that were damaged by DHT. Over the following year or two, you should see that hair regrow and fill out again.

This is a commonly reported experience from men on hairloss treatments like finasteride/dutasteride – in fact it's usually mentioned explicitly by hairloss companies as a sign that it's working. It's also reported from cis women suffering hairloss who go on spiro and CPA for it.
