Half of Americans anticipate a U.S. civil war soon, survey finds.

It will only be a matter of time before a Presidential candidate runs on the non-violent succession of states as their primary platform. It generally has very strong support from Progressives and Conservatives, which means because the American primary system favors the extremes, this candidate will probably get to the general election sooner rather than later. At that point, all bets are off because it's very likely someone, regardless of Republican or Democrat, could get support from the West Coast, Texas, and potentially the Northeast and that is enough to win the Electoral College.

America was lucky the first time to have such a strong leader during the 1st Civil War who believed states didn't have the authority of succession and 100% believed in the American experiment. I think that won't be the case next time.

It would be a huge geopolitical blunder to have States succeed from the US, but I think unfortunately, because America isn't willing to do what it takes to reel in the internet and economic inequality it is the only future we have now.
