Half-Life: Alyx Launches Next Month But Index is Still Sold Out Across the Globe

I don't get why the crowd that usually screams "remember, no preorders" are running out to buy $1,000 beta hardware to play a single game that isn't even out yet.

For one, no guarantee the game will even be good. If the past few years of gaming has taught me anything it's that developer loyalty is for suckers.

Secondly even if the game is good the REAL test here is to see what comes after HL:A. HL:A could very well be game of the decade, but if no more AAA VR games follow it, you're left with a $1,000 paperweight.

And yes I still consider all VR "beta" at this point. Even the "no compromise" Index is still a massive compromise of strapping a heavy hunk of electronics onto your face with wires dangling from it.
