Half of young Americans say their degree is irrelevant to their work

I’m 27 and work a blue collar job that starts out at $23 an hour which isn’t bad and we get probably the best medical insurance in the state, you don’t even need experience they will train you (it’s a state job). I’m also the only person there under 40 and we are going to be seriously hurting soon because everyone else is 5-8 years from retirement but we can’t fucking find young people. Every time we hire a younger person my age or younger they quit because it’s “too hard” and/or end up not giving a fuck. It’s a maintenance job at a school for fucks sake I just don’t understand. I even ask younger people working at wal mart or something if they want a job making more than double what they are and they always decline. I work construction helping my friend out whose a contractor and is willing to pay kids $25 an hour if they want but can’t find and/or keep them. Skills are what’s going to be your best bet against AI, robots can’t do plumbing, electrical, HVAC, paint or anything related.
