Halo 5 does NOT have campaign splitscreen because 343 wants to keep it at 60 fps (x-post from /r/halo)

The reason consoles fund most AAA multiplatform games is because tbh the only thing a company needs to do to sell a game on a console is build up enough hype. There are no sales for people to wait for to get games at a discounted price either.

Only a complete moron would demand they all fit one criteria.

Technically speaking, they all do fit on criteria. The reason why you can play ahem, PS1, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Wii, DS, gameboy, gameboy advance, Atari, N64, etc, etc on a PC is because they fit one criteria. The only two things that makes each current console different, is which overlord (Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony) gets a cut of your money when you buy a game. That and exclusive games, the only reason they are exclusive is for said overlords to try and get you into their little monopoly. So that when you buy those multiplatform games, instead of a cut going to overlord A it goes to overlord B because you have overlord B's console. The said part is the exclusives are really bad on this generation. Just the usual rehash of Halo, Gears of War, inFamous, and Uncharted. At least Mario games are still fun to play at least.

if you want a cheaper alternative with fun games and a longer lasting community

Oh hello Xbox, oh what's that you say, Xbox Live was discontinued you say!?!? Oh look the Halo PC community is still alive and active you say !??

Typical console shortsighted console gamer. Consoles maybe cheaper in the short run (though that can be argued, google Potato Masher). They sure as hell aren't in the long run. That $60 a year runs you $480 for 8 years (lifetime of last gen). A service that is free on PC.

the ability to play on the couch get a consol

You can play a PC on a couch, you can also play with your preferred controller. You can't use a PS controller on Xbox and vice versa.
