Halo 5 Guardians: Angry Review

I've been playing Halo 5 since drop. As a huge Halo fan I really enjoyed the campaign. I played it on legendary and it took me fifteen hours to finish. For a single player campaign I would say that's pretty good. For me playing the previous games, I understood the story just fine. Sure it would be nice for new players to get a recap of the story leading up to 5 and they can on the Halo Channel.

Another thing that a lot of people are focusing on is the lack of splitscreen. I'm going to say it because nobody else will, splitscreen is dead. You might play splitscreen once every so often, but not enough for it to actually matter. Also, nobody likes playing online splitscreen. It makes the game hard to play when your vision is warped. I'm glad they took out the option so the game runs at 60fps.

The multi-player I love. Everything about it just feels right. Warzone is amazing to play with friends. If you aren't great at combat, you can go kill objectives and still rack in major points. If you like killing Spartans you can hop into a scorpion and blast through enemies. Although vehicles might seem overpowered, with the wide range of weapons and your team, you can easily take them out by focusing fire.

Arena I have to say is great if you enjoy competitive gameplay. Team Arena is a nice mix of game modes so you dont get bored too easily. As a CSGO player I really am enjoying breakout. Breakout is a 4v4 gamete where you don't have shields so you can die very easily. It's a gametype that takes a lot of communication and practice.

The only things that bother me about Arena, is that if someone leaves they aren't replaced. It really sucks when you're winning a game and your teammate leaves making it 3v4. The other thing is that the ranking system is out of whack. I feel like they put a mix of players in the ranking levels based on wins and not personal performance. This bothers me because I usually get into games with teammates who shoot walls or just run around not caring for objectives. But a way to fix this is simply make your own Spartan company and play with them.

A big thing to see coming underfire are the microtransactions. People keep complaining about their existence in the game. It only costs 10000 req points to get the best pack. That 10000 req points can easily be gained within an hour to an hour and a half of playing Warzone or arena. I really don't see the big deal. Play the game so you don't have to spend the money. It's completely optional. I would not base your opinion to buy this game on the existence of microtransactions. It's so insignificant to the overall game. Mass Effect 3 did the same thing for their multi-player and that went ignored while everyone focused on the brutal campaign ending.

Overall I would say skip the game if lack of splitscreen and microtransactions bother you. But if you enjoy the Halo series get this game. It's really fun and I just can't see myself stopping anytime soon.
