If you look back at Battlefield's relatively recent history you see a pattern of DICE inserting problems that the community more or less just vomits back out going "Nope, don't like it.". And these problems are always related of how to extract cash shop cosmetics money out of a game that hinges on essentially being 'one rifle of many, an indistinct soldier in chaos'.

Like trying to insert a 'downscaled' mode in BF3 and BF4 where it was just small scale e-sports focus (like a whole expansion pack dedicated to this). Trying to make that hero-shooter mode for BF1 that never took off because the community detested it. The BR mode and the grab-bag player customization in BFV being the last bit.

I'm not saying it can't work only that the method DICE are doing is hideously clumsy.
