Hamas to no longer call for Israel’s destruction; supports interim Palestinian state within 1967 borders

Yeah jews are treated very poorly in most of the muslim world. Which is why I think muslims should not have dominion over jews the way jews have over muslims now. The only answer is a two-state solution.

Violence for self-defense is more justifiable, but what Israel is doing is not self defense. The responses by Israel are too disproportionate. 70 jews killed by Hamas in the last Gaza conflict, 62 of them being military personnel and Israels response is to kill ~2000 Palestinian civilians? That's hardly self defense and will only make the problem worse.

My reservation with the self-defense argument is that it's clearly not true anymore. The Arab states and Palestine are no longer an existential threat to Israel as they once were. Israel is now by far the strongest military power in the middle east, and can effectively bully any other nation in the area. Hamas can fire a thousand rockets and they'll barely touch Israel. They only do it now to hurt Israel financially, because a rocket costs a couple hundred dollars to build but tens of thousands of dollars to shoot down. The rockets hardly kill many people. That's why Hamas offensives are measured in 'rockets fired' but Israeli offensives are measured in 'Palestinian deaths'.

Killing civilians is wrong no matter who does it. Right now Hamas are the terrorists simply because they're losing. In my opinion, both Hamas and the Israeli govt have been infiltrated by religious zealots. Israel may portray itself as secular but that is in contradiction to the very ideology behind the creation of Israel. Until both sides can suppress the religious fundamentalism prevalent in their ranks, they can't even begin to have any meaningful talks in hopes of finding an actual, viable solution.
