[Happily Ever After] {Season 2 Episode 2} Official Discussion Thread

I disagree. Her family was being really shitty to him, and mama bear came out to defend her son. Maybe she wasn't being super kind, but I don't think anything was so out of line that he had to step in and stop her. She really only said they were crazy.

The pre-nup isn't a red flag in my mind. I'm a citizen and I would refuse to sign one too. They have no assets to protect in the first place, plus it makes it seem like she's already planning a divorce. Not to mention, the immigration form she signed to sponsor his green card (the affadavit of support) supercedes any prenup they would sign anyway. When you apply for a spouse's green card, you have to sign a document stating that you are financially liable for them until they either get citizenship or leave the country basically (eventually the liability ends, but it's a long time). Divorce doesn't end that responsibility either. For example, even with a prenup, if he were to incur credit card debt and skip the country, she would be on the hook to pay for it even if they were divorced because of the affadavit of suppprt.

A prenup would be pointless and her asking for one was just a sign that she didn't trust him or believe in their marriage. THAT was the red flag.
