I find it hard to read books in english

I would recommend becoming a student of the language itself.

Buy a good English good dictionary with etymology, and keep using it.

Exploring the etymology of words as you go, means you'll begin to get some basic knowledge of Latin and Greek as well.

Consider joining a language class in your area. Studying grammar is obviosuly a chore, but in a group it can also be fun, - and in my opinion it's well worth it!

If you keep on working like this, more and more the language will begin to feel natural to you, - and reading it will inevitably start to feel "right" as well.

PS: Some books feel like "chores" no matter what language they're in.
