Hardlines team members are the operator now?

This is not something we practice in my store, at least not yet. But I understand the frustration with having to juggle the phone while working on multiple tasks. Coming from someone that works in softlines, the fitting room attendant also has a lot on their plate. It's the busiest season for softlines right now so there's a ton of women trying on clothes as well as swimsuits that they don't plan on buying so there's tons of clothes to have to hang and fold and run back out to the floor. The attendant usually has to zone an area of softlines during a closing shift too. There's also AP issues. Attendants have to physically count every item guests take back as well as watch for guests taking back non clothing items like makeup. Also reshop from the front lanes adds to the never ending pile of clothes to sort, hang, fold, and put away. Oh and there's repackaging too. I'm in no way saying it should be hardlines responsibility to answer phones. Just saying they have a lot going on too. I think that the phone operating task should be shared by an HR team member and a guest service team member. Calls are usually for them anyways and they are both near phones. However, they probably have a million tasks to do too.
