Harvard Psychiatrist explains depression vs unhappiness to Reckful

Was it hateful though? You're interpretation of the original post is too extreme imo. The stance taken (which was agreeing with the original clip of that psychologist) was that outside of physical debilitation, what we call depression is varying degrees of not being fulfilled in life. If it's true, then that means those who feel like they're depressed are closer to getting back on the horse than they realize. The delivery was brash, but that's a more optimistic take than just "depression is a serious thing."

Don't think I'm denying your side of the argument. That "you're not actually depressed" perspective can absolutely 100% go too far, and effectively disregard those who are suffering or downplay those who have genuine depression. It sounds like that's what you're reacting to, and it's understandable if you've suffered loss because of depression. What I'm saying is that no one's perspective of any topic, regardless of how sensitive it is, is black and white. It's always going to be in gradients (aka shades of grey), but those gradients will never get explored if the response is to strike down those who give a different opinion. If someone is ignorant they aren't bad, they just need to learn.
