I hate all police officers and don't respect any of them. Here's why.

Unfortunately, for the ones you've come across and heard about in the news, that's more known than your average joe cop who actually isn't a bad person necessarily. At least, no more than the rest of the average human population. And that's what they are, persons, people, human beings. Trust me I get what you're saying, however I'm sick of people in general because it's not just policemen who are like this, every single person in this world is capable of these actions you've described and a lot act like this. In certain areas if you want to be a police officer, ranks higher up might be pushing certain demeaning habits. In my area, if you want to be a sheriff, you have to comply with some unwritten rules or they will disown you & find ways to make you quit. It is a cult called the Masons. Now, it's not as intense as it use to be decades back, more of a way to maintain power and control without checks and balances. Because someone 70 years back didn't want a colored man in his sheriff's office. (And this isn't how it is for our city police.) It's diminished a good bit over the years. (Source: great great grandfather was a 32nd degree mason, this is a very high rank, no this isn't passed through family; father resigned from police academy because he did not believe in that system nor the fact they were going to force him to live his life a certain way, basically. This includes religious views, which was his biggest problem. He just wanted to be a Christian.) Other areas from what I'm gathering on, let's say is high in crime, the police force has come to react to the look of who they have come across as the most troublesome. So in the "hoods" where your predominant color is of darker complexion, the people acting out have set targets on backs of those who will look, key word, 'look' like they will cause trouble. Darker complexion, "white trailer trash", anyone wearing a turban. Just a few examples of those who have set targets for anyone along these lines based off looks. Because apparently when it comes to threats, the human race hasn't evolved past looks. Anyone can do something scary.

Now, bare with me for a sec. This thinking goes way beyond just policemen. If you were a typical white person, traveling to another country. You show up at the airport, but you're not at your typical tourist airport. In a lot of countries, based off your looks, you will be "helped" outside, then threatened as this "help" goes through your luggage taking what they please. And you can't exactly do anything about it because that nearby policeman, is helping. Now I said you were white because you're average tourist traveling to say an island is of lighter complexion & most likely will have what the attacker wants.

Abuse of power is everywhere. To an extent, most people have a power they abuse. Even your barista at dunkin donuts who still remembers a rude face you made at them one day. They've been giving you decaf for weeks now, and you've been asking for bold.

I completely get your rant. I rant like this about people in general, A LOT. And then I think about it, look around, and realize: this is nothing new. The human race goes through this cycle of overcoming obstacles as a whole. And yet the same actions of belittling, berating, & being just plain cruel to each other haven't changed much at all over thousands and thousands of years. Anyone, with any form of power, abuses it in some way, at some point in time.

You most likely abuse your power with your dog by teasing him with treats. This is the worst abuse ever...how dare you.
