I hate the anti education campaign that is going on towards public schools and K-12 among the general public.

No but 12 years is funded through the state. That is the arbitrary cutoff for most. It is not about “living a good life” but educating our population. I want to point out that spending “thousands” is uniquely American as most other developed countries have higher ed that only costs a fraction (or nothing). It is less about success and more about education. If (hypothetically) one could dropout at 12 and go work in construction and make good money, I am sure some people would. BUT education is more important than just being able to make money. You will be participating in society. You will be voting in it. That individual should understand more about the world than just basic arithmetic and language. There’s a reason Americans are stereotypically considered “stupid” in the developed world.
