Why I hate the "Donate It" rating crosspost with r/TOVG

I agree with this post 100%. It has always rubbed me the wrong way that you would suggest donating a shitty game. Y'know what that means? Giving needy kids a shitty game. It implies that "only poor kids deserve to play this game." Those needy kids might only get one game donated a year, if that, and what they get is the luck of the draw. How pissed would you be if you got a shit game and other needy kids got a sweet game?

The ratings should be:

  • Complete It
  • Finish It
  • Play It (check it out)
  • Look At It (if you like the genre/series, then maybe play it after checking it out)
  • Don't Go Anywhere Near It

Yeah, it's a little verbose, but it fits in better with the other ratings, and it doesn't imply that "poor kids will be happy with anything, even a shitty game."
