I hate that little orange letter

Hi, I'm a mathematician and physicist. Currently an undergraduate student. I'm spiritual but not religious. I'm going to chime in here.

It'd be completely inconsequential if the laws of physics changed beyond completely screwing with our heads - we'd reconstruct them if we survived the change because that's how science works. Quantification doesn't change and thus mathematics won't really change too much.

I like to think of this topic in terms of set theory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_%28mathematics%29

I believe that human understanding is a subset of human's ability to conceptualize which is in of itself a subset of the universal set and I define science as a systematic evaluation of human understanding. Spirituality to me is simply the universal set minus human understanding, leaving behind things we can conceptualize but not understand - and things that we will never understand as a species.

In my paradigm religion - all religion - is false because it makes claims that we understand things we don't understand. We can't understand things that we can't see, manipulate, and experiment with. Because it is false it is inflexible to new evidence and new things - like any lie.

I believe atheists unconsciously discard the possibility that anything permanently outside of human understanding exists in their beliefs and thus limit their ability to think creatively. I believe many religious individuals discard portions of human understanding from their beliefs in order to protect inflexible contrived beliefs and thus limit their ability to think creatively.

It sounds like you're trying to expand your thinking. You're heading the right way in my likely-to-be-downvoted-to-a-hell-I-don't-believe-in opinion, but you're not quite there yet.
