‘Hate’ as a Synonym for ‘Republican’

Again, you are talking about extremes. Most people don't leave the table during a reasonable discussion unless they are beyond reason.

As an atheist, I can tell you that I have been told to STFU and keep my "ignorance" to myself far more than I have ever expressed such sentiments to the Christians in my life. My lack of belief makes me incapable of morality, is horribly offensive, and I should just keep it to myself. So, I keep my atheism to myself. (Granted, I know a LOT of atheists have trouble with this.) I do not have a problem with your religion. I only ask that you practice it at home and church. I want science taught in science classes, and a secular government that treats all people equally. I disagree with forcing people to bake a cake for someone just as disagreeable as you do, but a county clerk doesn't have the right to not provide a legal marriage license.

Right wing media says the Left are fine with abortion at any stage of pregnancy. That is simply not true. It's a complex issue. I can tell you that I believe in abortion up to the point a fetus can exist (with medical assistance) outside of the womb. Once it reaches that point, labor can and should be induced if a woman does not consent to carry the child, and (ideally) an adoptive parent should be found. VERY complicated issue, though, and I can only speak for myself. Having had this discussion recently with my Republican sister in law, I can tell you that she holds the exact same perspective I do, despite believing (before our talk) what you just said.

The guns - again, this is an extreme view. Liberals no more want to take your guns away than Conservatives want AK-47s in elementary schools. Most liberals are fine with you having guns to hunt, or to shoot at a firing range. I can't speak for everyone, but I think it should be illegal for anyone to have a gun that is capable of killing 20 people at a time. I can't think of a single reason such a weapon belongs in the hands of a private citizen unless it is to overthrow a corrupt government. I am also personally against the militarization of police. I believe in the law, and I believe that police should have all the latest and greatest armor/shields, but that the court should decide whether or not a person deserves a death sentence. Not a single person with a badge.

Churches, Twitter, and Reddit have plenty of places where liberals are silenced. Again, these do not represent everyone.

Many on the right stand for the things I mentioned above, too. My point was that while some people believe the nonsense, most don't.

As for taking away the votes, yes, gerrymandering has happened on both sides, and is unforgivable either way. The "meat" to which I refer was a recent court case in my state which "target
African Americans with almost surgical precision."
