Haunted Raleigh?

God, go to my parents house in Five Points, specially the old maid’s floor. It is like 100 years old and the place of nightmares. At least two random closets of just pic-axes.

1) Mostly, from what I was told, before the end of segregation, my great-grandfather volunteered as a doctor at St. Augustine (historic black hospital with limited resources) and when there was overflow at the hospital he would bring some of the patients home to the maid’s floor to care for them—and the expected happened to very sick people in the 1940s.

2) after that, it was a low-key speakeasy.

3) now it is a very creepy floor that my parents tried turning into the kids floor, except none of my friends growing up would spend the night there bc of constant weird happenings — bed shaking on its own, random cold spots, things falling, etc.

4) although, my dad does get a kick out of making old bfs unknowingly spend the night alone in that nightmare floor if they ever stay over.

—but the serious, more practical answer is Mordicai, that Mexican place on Glenwood, Dorothea Dix.
