So I can see where you're coming from, but I feel like [Spoiler] (#s "the evil present in the house was largely due to the maliciousness and insanity of the people that died there and subsequently got 'devoured' by it, with Poppy in particular being the one that set most of the later events in motion. Both she and Olivia were prone to mental breaks, and therefore became malevolent forces. You could even argue that Liv was delusional rather than evil. That said, most of the other people who died there didn't try to lure in others to the same grisly fate. If you think about the old woman, Abigail, and Nell, none of them were overtly evil. They just lingered there as benign ghosts, with Nell actually helping her siblings during the finale. The house itself wasn't evil, it just captured the spirits of those that died in it.")
