Could be a different situation altogether. While OP says he delegates work, that is kind of the role of management.

I find that most situations like this are actually the emoloyer keeping the employee around because of what they "can do" and not what they actually do. Thats pretty much where im at right now and im sure a couple of the newer people have thought or told others that i dont do anywork. I check a monitor to make sure everything runs smoothly in all of our global plants (amongst a few other things, total actual work day is 2-3 hours) Most of the rest of the day runs smoothly and i dont have to lift a finger and comment on reddit posts like this one! When it goes to shit though it goes to utter shit and it pays off to have someone that can handle it immediately.
