I haven't felt asmr in months. [Discussion]

I absolutely agree that ones state of mind if relevant when it comes to being triggered or at least it is in my own experience. If for some reason I just can't "settle down" whether that means mentally or physically, then chances are that I will not be experience ASMR because of all that I am experiencing at the time. In those cases there are other things that I need to do for myself if I want to manage what is going on. I do find that I am most likely to experience ASMR when I am a bit sleepy and don't have a lot on my mind.

About a year ago I gave it a break because my ears started getting irritated from falling asleep with my headphones in too regularly. After a few months I gave asmr a shot again. Nothing. I tried all kinds of triggers, male/female, different accents and I couldn't get it to click. The last time I felt it was probably late october or early november on my drive home from work and this woman called in to a radio station and she had such a calming voice that I almost fell asleep on the highway. Ever since I just haven't been able to coax myself into it.

I know that you didn't explicitly ask for feedback or advice, but in regards to the headphones causing discomfort - I saw these posted awhile ago on here. bedphones I don't own a pair, but have been meaning to purchase one to try out. It's particularly appealing to me because I've found that something that increases the likelihood of my being triggered is to lay on my side, but that can be troublesome with certain headphones.

I don't know how frequently you experienced ASMR before your break or what kinds of things triggered you, but it sounds like you're doing the same thing that I do when I have trouble which is to experiment with a lot of different videos. The unfortunate thing for me is that I actually experience ASMR from a rather low number (in my opinion) of videos and the ones that provide the most "powerful" ASMR experience are ones that I seem to develop immunity to very quickly. Even if I take an extended break from watching those videos, it generally does not come back and I have to search for a while before I find something that works. There are a couple of videos by albinwhisperland, CosmicTingles, and GentleWhispering that are the exception for me and consistently allow me to experience ASMR.
