[Haynes] LeBron on why he doesn't want to be an NBA head coach: 'I'll get blamed for every little thing'

If that is how Lebron feels then so be it. I mean, it's obvious LeBron understands that coaching is a massive responsibility & a massive time investment into not only the X's & O's, but player's individually.

Still, I feel that it is a poor reasoning or maybe worded poorly. In every major sports organization the Coaching positions have a trend regarding their turnover rate outside of the Belichicks/Popovichs of their respective leagues.

The reason I feel that this is a bad mantra is because that:

  • 1) I'd imagine that player's would love a coach who is able to & also willing to take the spotlight of them & embrace the responsibilities of the expectations they are held to.

  • 2) He already is blamed for every little thing if his team falls short or shows adversity. The spotlight is not new at all to him.

  • 3) To paraphrase what I was talking about earlier: No Coach is exempt from this cherry-picking treatment, not even the Belichicks or Popovichs.

You're already seeing comments about how Bill Belichick should have gameplanned better against the Broncos after hearing that "Bryan Stork was tipping the Snap." Or that Popovich lost complete control of the game against the Warriors. Or even that Steve Kerr is an idiot for encouraging Draymond Green chase a 3x2 against the 76ers, which led to a huge comeback.

  • Off the bat, I can say with confidence that LBJ would definitely have a massive margin of error in terms of job security, but an extremely small margin of error in terms of accountability from the media.
