GOT had VERY little world building. it was all in the now, and seemed to be almost deliberatly ignorant of the before.

what are white walkers, what are the children of the forest? nope, doesnt matter.

the oldest history we know barely reached back 30 years to Jons birth.

Im not saying that HBO couldnt write an interesting backstory, but they would need to write it from scratch.

And there was a time where it seemed obvious that bran created the night king, maybe even WAS the night king. and the show completely ran from that possibility, which might have actually set the stage for an origins series.

At this point, if you divorce the entire plot from the CHARACTERS and politics that make GOT work... you may as well not even use the name... unless the name is all you have.
