This occurred to someone in my family.

They were in the fast lane coming up to a green light. There were several cars in the turn lane to go left. One car in the lane was stalled. So one of the cars waiting behind decided to pull out of the turn lane and into the fast lane to go around the stalled car.

My family member hit them at full speed.

Car destroyed, family member taken to hospital.

The person they hit told the insurance that they had been in the lane the entire time and they were hit by a driver not paying attention.

The police report showed that they had crossed solid lines into oncoming traffic. Several witnesses in the turn lane also said the same. That the driver in the turn lane pulled out in front of the other car.

They were found at fault.

The cop came up to the hospital to check on my family member and told them the other driver was lying and trying to blame them, but not to worry about the report.
