He would never let kids see that he was fighting cancer. To them, he was and will forever T'Challa

Out of all the things I think about child care, lying to a child is never something I agree with. I know what you're saying, "Let him know that another person will probably play Black Panther, and by that logic, he can continue thinking he's alive." At least that's what I assume you're saying.

If I knew that to be true, I might just do that. As it stands, however, there's no word that's what is going to happen. It's totally possible that Marvel retires the character after this. It would be a poor financial decision but one that a ton of people would respect.

I'm not trying to jump on to you or anything, just clarify my thinking. I get you've got good intentions and are probably right. I'm just the type of person that feels even telling kids about Santa Clause is a bad move. Because at some point in the future the truth comes out and they then know, without question, that the adults in their lives will lie to them. I know they need to learn that adults lie but they don't need to find this out from their parents and the other trusted stewards in their life.

I probably sound like a huge funless prick but it's just one of those things with me. I try with all my might to treat kids as if they were adults. (Within reason anyway. Like I would never sit and talk to a child about sex or anything. Unlike some, I feel they are worth listening to when they talk and that they deserve my respect even though they're little. From my own experience and seeing children throughout my life, I've learned they're adults who lack context and experience. Nothing less. So treating them as something other than human feels wrong to me. Even if it's a lie to save their emotions.)
