Health Officials Confirm NYC COVID Variant Is More Infectious, Outpacing UK Strain

Well not really. If it's more infectious, it means that more people can catch it, and if the death rate for covid is still 1% of whatever for every person that gets it, and more people are getting it, that still causes more net death. Once you get a vaccine we should all chill for sure, but like, until then people still gotta be careful. Infection rate and cases have plateaud at 5 times the rate they were in the summer, which is not a good sign considering how many vaccines we've been putting out. Eventually the vaccines will stamp it out and bend that graph downward but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an small uptick in cases over the next few weeks. Good news is a lot of the vulnerable people have gotten their vaccines so hospitalizations and deaths should keep going downward regardless of cases.
