Well not really. If it's more infectious, it means that more people can catch it, and if the death rate for covid is still 1% of whatever for every person that gets it, and more people are getting it, that still causes more net death. Once you get a vaccine we should all chill for sure, but like, until then people still gotta be careful. Infection rate and cases have plateaud at 5 times the rate they were in the summer, which is not a good sign considering how many vaccines we've been putting out. Eventually the vaccines will stamp it out and bend that graph downward but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an small uptick in cases over the next few weeks. Good news is a lot of the vulnerable people have gotten their vaccines so hospitalizations and deaths should keep going downward regardless of cases.
