You're not getting it. In order to change pro-lifers' minds you have to address their argument. Their argument isn't "what's the best way to reduce abortions", their argument is "abortion is philosophically and principally evil at its core, period, because it's killing a living baby".
If you want to have a real argument with them, address THAT. But just going on about how safe abortions limit the total number of abortions will do nothing to change their minds.
Let me put this another way using an analogy: let's say there was currently a law saying it's okay to shoot homeless people on sight in order to make the city cleaner. There's an anti-shooting faction that says we need to ban this law immediately. You make a counterpoint saying "look, instead of criminalizing shooting homeless people, let's increase funding for shelters and give homeless people financial aid. That'll go a longer way to reducing the homeless population."
Would your opponent be swayed by that argument? Hell no, because what they're hearing is that you're okay with the law that allows gunning down fellow humans on the road, with some added fluff on top. Their core objection is not being addressed.
Same thing for the abortion debate.
