‘Heat dome’ probably killed 1bn marine animals on Canada coast, experts say

Is this assuming that everyone gives up meat? Because I'm not sure me giving up meat would put even a dent in the global meat industry and the massive plots of land used to feed it and the carbon emissions it generates.

Not that I'm not going to do that of course, I'm sorry to say I've been lazy about this and not tried as hard as I really should have. I just don't see the connection between me not eating meat and an actual reduction in emissions. One person not eating meat doesn't have any effect on the output of the industry.

This seems like one of those "use energy-efficient lightbulbs in your house" types of individualist solutions that we had in the nineties when what we really need is a concerted effort to reduce emissions, focused primarily on large corporations.
