Heated debate erupts between Hezbollah deputy Nawaf al-Musawi and Nadim Gemayel during the speech of MP Sami Gemayel

Yeah, but how is that our fault ? Shi'ites held less than 10 % of state positions for its history, we did not build the country, we're not its founding fathers. You can't blame us for what happened.

I'm going to tell you why a Civil war will not happen :

1- There already was one and it's still fresh in the memories and the loss are not worth the results, so no one will go this way.

2- Most "militias" in pre-Civil war Lebanon were jokes and non-professional fighting force, there was never going to be a clear winner in the war. Add in there the fact that the state was very weak, the army was gutted and incompetent in face of any pressure (Like the PLO) and add in the fact that the political climate was good for things to explode, and you got yourself a Civil war. Also, the army acts more like a political force than a real military institution, anything that is "Civil" in nature, the army won't be able to respond to it.

Hezbollah is actually what keeps the country from imploding on itself through whatever event that hits the country because there's no doubt that Hezb. could take over the whole country and defeat any opponent. Most people will limit the issue to the parliament and won't try themselves in the streets anymore in this situation, like it happened basically in 1975.

Also, Hezb. is actually hostile to anything that threatens the internal stability of the country because it's not in its interests that Lebanon goes to war, so it would make sure that it does not happen.

(The head MP ended up excusing himself to Gemayel just recently : http://www.naharnet.com/stories/en/256598-kataeb-lf-officials-laud-raad-apology-over-moussawi-remarks#new-comment )

See it this way, Hezb. is only a victim of its own success, it inherited the current situation because it was the only one who was able to push Israel out by the force of arms, and not the "sole military force".

The fact that your "sole military force" does not control the Palestinians camps to this day is a proof of what is being said.

Start by taking control over the Palestinian camps if you want to be taken seriously.
