Sorry its not "objectively" better and the fact you think it has any visual feedback is hillarious considering the entire premise of hold in to go higher negates all visual feedback
If you stand still and do a normal jump but hold in the button and magically float up to your maximum jump hieght there is no sense of energy being put in there is zero feedback
This is thr equivellant of saying oh instead of charging up my powerful punch i should just punch and hold in the button as the damage ramps up, it just looks terrible
The point of a charge jump is that you actually aee the character put effort into gathering strength to jump to that insane height, its immersive it makes it feel like the character is actually doing this motion instead of a computer just pushing the model higher and higher with zero visual
Prototype is not a game anyone should be looking to for tips on a game with superpowers
Charging up both looks better and adds depth to the mechanic by allowing players to get a feel for how long to charge, taking that away to simply just float up while holding is just so outdated and requires zero thought and doesnt even look good on screen, your supposed to feel like your spiderman not like a floating test model
