To Hell with the god damned piece of garbage Hatch.

If you are relieved when the survivor finds the hatch; then you don't really care that much about the kill.
If that's the case, just smack them, and they'll jump in the hatch to end the game. You didn't really need that extra kill, since you are relieved if they find it first.

Anyhow; I'd like there to be two things added to the hatch standoff.

  • Killer can close the hatch. Progress doesn't save if you cancel action.

Thing is; it'd be a long task (10~15 seconds at least) where he is looking down while closing it. This way it would force the survivor to move; but gives him a large head start to get away and for scratchmarks to largely (or entirely) disappear.

However, a killer could mindgame by starting the hatch for 3 seconds or so, and canceling so he can still see the survivor run away.

Make it so canceling the hatch animation puts a somewhat large amount of lag time though (like closing a chest mid-way). So a survivor can mindgame back by actually not running, and hopping in during the killer lag.

If the hatch is closed, survivor require an ample amount of time to open it back up as well. To balance out for how long the killer required to put into closing it. (So a killer patrolling gens/hatch can still have time to possibly make it back and stop you from opening)

  • Survivor can do a fake jump. Straight up and down or something, so it looks different than the real jump.

This would be similar to touching a person on a hook and letting go right away. To bait a killer into swinging. That way you can do the real jump when the killer is wiping their blade off.

However, make it so that if the killer doesn't swing at you, you're character lands from their jump and takes some time to "catch their breath" where you can't move, and the killer can pick you up directly out of this special "stun state." That way a killer can read your mind game and just not swing; and get the free pick up.

Something like that would allow both the killer to fake (partially close hatch, then cancel) and survivor to fake (jump; but not in the hatch) with both fake's leading to a loss if the opponent doesn't take the bait.

As well as a way for the killer just to go "fuck it" and turn the hatch off and move the game back into neutral.

IDK; something like that is something I'd think would be interesting that would be fairly balanced for both sides. Giving technically a little more power to the killer (He can just opt to shut it right away; to just ignore mindgame battles).
Or maybe I'm overlooking something and my idea is dumb. IDK!
