Hello Irish friends. Question about the term plastic Irish

'Plastic Paddy' is actually the usual term. 'I do not identify as Irish': You're absolutely fine, because to plastic Paddys 20% Irish ancestry=feeling & therefore being Irish. They sing rebel songs loudly & publicly to feel really really Irish even though doing this makes the other people in Dubuque wonder who the feck Kevin Barry was when he was at home or in Alice Springs ask themselves 'Boolavogue? isn't that a place in the outback halfway to Darwin?'

Your curiosity is praiseworthy & your attitude refreshing and once the virus is under some sort of control you'd be welcome here as the flowers in May. (Donegal is a beautiful county & my favourite simply because of the landscape there so good choice in your place of birth, OP's great-grandfather.)
